Be Strong and Let Your Heart Take Good Courage

I love the book of Psalms! Don’t you? It’s the only book in the bible that’s just full of praise songs. These songs allow us to worship the Most High and also get edification, instructions on what to do and exactly who God is to us. Psalm 27:14 tells us to “wait on the Lord” and to “be strong and let your heart take good courage” What does this mean to you? I’m gonna tell you a little of what it means to me. Let’s proceed.

Why Wait on the Lord?

Waiting is hard to do. Period. Most folks don’t like to wait on much of anything, especially something you can’t see. I’m one of those folks. I want what I want now and if I can’t get it now from you, I’ll go somewhere else where I can get what I want as soon as possible. In this day and age in America we want fast download and upload speeds, we still want fast cars and we still eat fast food. I work in a factory where everything activity is timed in seconds just to get the product out the door as fast as possible. Time is money and ain’t nobody got time to be waiting around right? Part of the first verse of Psalm 27 says “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” Is light and salvation worth waiting for? I sure think so! Whom shall I fear? No one or nothing!! So much impatience and fear going on these days in America. People are afraid of COVID-19. Folks are afraid of losing their jobs or home. Folks are fearful they won’t be able to eat or wipe their behinds so we impatiently rush to the stores and clear the shelves of food and toiletries. The scripture tells us to wait on the Lord who is our light and our salvation.

Why Be Strong?

First Timothy verse seven says that God has given us a spirit of power, love and self-control. We are made to be strong! We are made with a spirit of power! Able to withstand attacks, be well fortified, having great intellect and a strong mind. We’re able to not be easily subdued by fear. Especially the fear the mainstream media is pumping out daily.

How Can My Heart Take Courage?

Adhere to God’s word. Our guide is the bible. The word of God strengthens and builds us. We put His word in our hearts. The words from the Most High gives us our courage. His word encourages us and gives us wisdom. His word in our hearts gives us courage.

Wrap up

I pray this message blessed you and helped you. I’m just a guy who reads the scriptures trying to work out my own salvation with fear and trembling. The when we read God’s word the Holy Spirit will reveal to us what he wants us to know. I encourage you all to keep praying, keep reading the Word & wait on the Lord! Thanks so much! Derek
