Today is Going to be a Good Day – 4 Simple Steps to a Good Day

How do I know today is going to be a good day? Because I’m alive! The Most High saw fit to wake me up this morning and for this I am thankful. Today I want to take you through a few steps that I do consistently in order to have a good day.

Prayers & Praise

I pray and praise daily. I try to thank the Lord as soon as I open my eyes because I believe God should be first. This method does not always work and sometimes I find I’ve been up for quite a while just doing my own thing and then I’m like, “Oh, I need to pray right now.” I always exalt His name and say hallelujah. Prayer and praise does not have to be elaborate and no one else has to be involved, just you and God. I always pray to the Most High God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob just to keep my mind on track. Prayer and praise is the best way to start your day. Humans require fellowship with the Most High and He enjoys the fellowship. Scripture tells us that God walked with man and He never walked with another creature that we know of, He loves us! Starting our days off with this spiritual connection is paramount.

Make Your Bed

I was raised to make my bed and clean my room daily. I’m so thankful to my parents for making sure my chores were always done and my bed was made before I went to school in the morning. For me, making the bed provides a sense of order and accomplishment. I just love completing micro-tasks! Some benefits of daily bed making are:
  • order and tidiness with the largest item in your bed room
  • a sense of accomplishment
  • setting a good example for you spouse or children
  • a well-made bed to come home to after a long day
I hope by now I have persuaded you to make your bed on a daily basis if you are not already 🙂

Exercise is awesome for me! My dad is a cyclist and always took me riding or my sisters and I for long walks. Exercise releases endorphins that make you feel good. I make this a part of my daily regimen as it truly builds my self-esteem and makes me feel strong and accomplished. My wife and I work out together. Working out as a couple gives us another activity to do together and makes both of us more attractive to one another. I always exercise before I go to work. I have a fast-paced stressful job and nothing, aside from prayer, gives me more confidence than a good workout session. Working out can be stretching, walking, calisthenics, Pilates and a plethora of other activities. The sky’s the limit!

Personal Growth & Development

I’m all for humans expanding and stretching. Life is for the learners! I cannot stress enough the importance of a hobby, reading a book, learning a new skill or language. Keep your mind actively thinking on the most beautiful and noble things in life. Personal development often satisfies and humbles us. Learning and stretching gives us contentment. A well worked-out body and mind gives us good rest.

I’m no guru for sure, but I do hope these four simple steps help and inspire you. We are all trying to live this life the best we know how and I’m just trying to help us make it through the day a little better. The choice to have a good day is always up to us! I hope this blessed you. Please join the conversation with your thoughts and opinions. Have an amazing day and God bless! Derek
